What We Do

The Kindness Project is a community-driven initiative dedicated to strengthening early childhood mental health—starting with the adults who care for and teach young children every day.

Mission

To foster lifelong social and emotional literacy skills, mental well-being, healthy relationships, and harmonious communities for our children, families, and teachers through mindfulness training in early-childhood education.

Vision

Our vision is to help build a world where all children learn positive emotional and relational skills to live balanced, happy lives and to grow into engaged, empathetic citizens, and where they feel safe and encouraged by their communities to pursue their interests, abilities, hopes, and dreams.

Training & Coaching for Educators

We partner with local organizations to provide high-quality training and ongoing coaching for early childhood educators. Grounded in mindfulness and the Kindness Curriculum, our approach offers practical, research-informed tools that can be immediately integrated into the classroom.

Through both individualized and group coaching, educators are supported in bringing social-emotional learning to life in daily routines—fostering emotional regulation, connection, and positive learning environments.

Reflective Practice for Leaders

We create space for program leaders to engage in reflective practice—encouraging thoughtful dialogue, shared problem-solving, and alignment of strategies that support both staff well-being and positive outcomes for children.

25-Hour Summer Training

A cornerstone of our work is our immersive 25-hour summer training for early childhood professionals. This experience offers deep learning, hands-on skill-building, and meaningful collaboration focused on mindfulness, emotional regulation, and nurturing classroom environments.

Participants leave with practical strategies, renewed energy, and a strong network of peers.

Family Engagement

We believe families are essential partners in children’s development. Our accessible family programming builds awareness and provides simple, effective tools to support social-emotional growth at home.

Community Impact & Systems Change

At the systems level, the Kindness Project leads an early childhood mental health community task force. We bring together cross-sector partners to align efforts, share resources, and advance a more coordinated, compassionate approach to supporting young children and those who care for them.

Parent Testimonials

"[My child] is able to self-regulate (not all the time, but often), talks about kindness more often, and recognizes when she & others are being kind."
